The Thin Place

Audition Dates:
Thursday August 10 - 3:00pm-5:30pm
Fridays August 11 Callbacks - 3:00pm - 5:30pm

Everyone who ever died is still here, just in a different part of here. Linda can communicate with them. And if you believe, she can make you hear them, too — in the thin place, the fragile boundary between our world and the other one. With acuity and relentless curiosity, Lucas Hnath’s play transforms the theater into an intimate séance, crafting an unnerving testament to the power of the mind, which has a mind of its own.

Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. For more information email robert.archer@fortbendisd.com

Audition Dates:

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Mean Girls: High School Version! We are incredibly excited to bring this musical to Kempner High School this December. Below are the steps you need to take to prepare for auditions.

Step # 1: Choose an audition song from the options offered in this Google Folder (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FxDKDNUfScc6GNVrfuAJkT8XHp3aLqTC?usp=sharing).
  • First look at the sheet music. If you need help, find the song on YouTube or Spotify and follow along.
  • Pick the song that best showcases your voice and the character you relate to most. Do not choose a song for characters you do not feel comfortable portraying. Your song should be both well sung and acted.

Step # 2: Rehearse your song
  • Use the sheet music and audio track to learn from the google folder and rehearse your song.
  • If your selection has moments of music without singing be sure to find a way to stay in character. THIS IS A PERFORMANCE!
  • Be prepared to sing more of the song outside of the cut if asked.

Step # 3: Review the audition sides and be familiar with them before the audition.
  • You do not need to memorize these. However, it is good to go over them to be prepared for the cold read section of the auditions.
Step #4: Audition Day!
  • Auditions will be August 12th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. You must attend the full day.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that you can dance and move in. Avoid tight fitting clothes or clothes with too much fabric. You should be able to move comfortably without having to adjust your clothing. DO NOT WEAR SANDALS OR SLIDES!
  • There will be a dance audition during this time. We will teach you the dance on the day of auditions.
Tips:
  • Rehearse your song for at least 15 minutes a day. This way you will feel prepared on August 12th.
  • Find videos of other productions on YouTube. Many schools have uploaded clips from their productions of Mean Girls. Use them as inspiration!
  • Perform your audition song in front of people before the Audition on August 12th. This way the day of the audition is not the first time in front of an audience.
  • Have fun with this! Being a part of a musical is one of the most exciting and challenging things you can do in High School.
We can't wait to see you all on August 12th! Tell your friends to audition with you!

If you are interested in auditioning for Mean Girls, please fill out this interest form and we will send you all the information you need to prepare.
